Hey people of the world! Chloe here, and today I'm going to show you how to draw a horse head! A horse head can be a very complicated thing to draw, but with practice eventually it will come with ease. Before you start drawing, look at reference photos of horses to see where everything is 'mapped out'.
Step 1: Draw a big circle to represent those enormous cheeks. You'd almost think they were chipmunks! Step 2: Draw a smaller circle for the muzzle, about half the size of the first one. Step 3: Connect the two circles with some lines Step 4: Draw the neck! Depending on your horses' pose, the neck could be very curved or uptight. For this drawing I'm just sticking with a simple pose, similar to the picture on the right. (Remember, your drawing doesn't have to look EXACTLY like the picture or someone else's. It's your art, have fun with it!) Step 5: Now you're probably like, CHLOE! WHAT ABOUT THE EARS?! Don't worry, I'm not going to draw an earless horse! That would just be weird... Anyway, for the ears, you can kind of wing it, depending on your drawing. If the horse is angry or scared, their ears are usually flat against their head. If they are relaxed or curious, they are usually perked forward. Again, I'm using the image to the right as my reference so the ears will be perked forwards. Step 6: For the nostril, you just want to do a little teardrop shape near the edge of the small circle. Step 7:STOP! Muzzle time! This is the part where I had the most trouble with, I don't know about you guys, but it was pretty hard for me. All you have to do is bring your line straight down and then curve it for a chin and then stop there. Where the straight line meets the chin, you can draw your mouth. If something doesn't look right, don't worry, if it's your first time it won't be perfect. Keep working at it! Step 8: Step 7: Time for the eye, now this part is a little bit more complicated for some people, not for all. All you have to do is... um... well.. this is a bit hard to describe. Just try and follow the picture as seen! Move into further detail based on your skill level. I realise I didn't show how to draw the mane, but that is another skill for another lesson! I did say it was a SIMPLE horse head tutorial, right? And there you have it! Your very own horse head! No, not literally, a horse head, like, one on paper, that you drew.. now this is just turning weird... Hope you had fun drawing and that this was helpful! |
