Hey guys, Chloe here again. In my last post I told you all the items needed for watercolor painting. Now I'm actually going to tell you how to paint with them.
Gather all your supplies needed for painting, (paper, paint, brushes and water.) Lay your piece of paper down on a flat surface. This step is totally optional, but you can grab some tape and tape the outer edges of the paper down on your workspace. This is to prevent the paper from curling and buckling under the amount of water being put on it. Don't worry if it still curls a little, because that is normal. Oh yes, one thing I forgot to mention is that you will want a piece of paper towel or an old rag, something to clean your brush off when you are changing colors. Your setup should look similar to this picture below, and by similar I mean have most of the things in it. You don't need a pitcher or a spray bottle like it shows, but the paper, paint and brushes you should have. It also might not be as neat and tidy as this one, because I know for a fact that mine isn't!

Now, finally onto the painting! There are two ways to apply paint, number 1: Take a paintbrush of your choice and dip it in the water and bring it over to your paint palette. Swirl the brush around the area of paint until you see some color on the brush. You may need to repeat this step a few times depending on the opacity you want. The more water you add to the paint, the less opaque it will be and vice versa. Number 2: Add a few drops of water to an empty area on your palette. Wet your brush and load it up with the color of your choice and transfer that to the water. Simple enough, right?
(On the left is more water than paint, middle is even and right is more paint than water)

And that is basically all the basics that you need to know to start your own watercolor painting! Haha, see what I did there? Not funny? I guess not.. Now, I can't say much but just practice lots! You'll get the hang of it eventually. I will start doing some watercolor tutorials next so we can put our newly learned skills to work! Until next time, Chloe out!
